Sometimes with series the first is the best and they tend to trend downhill. Not the case for this series. This is the second in the series and just as good as the first. The offbeat humor continues so does Ms. Langtry's light hand with the characters and the plot. The mystery just like in the first was not hard to figure out but that is not really why you read this book.

The family dynamic is the interesting part. The ultimate dysfunctional family. I still got a bit of the Adams family feel from it. Most likely the macabre humor. This book centers around Dak (Dakota) while the first book centered around his sister Gin (Virginia).

The books use the dichotomy of a family that is very good at what they do but a complete wreck at interpersonal relationships to set up the humor. Like the first I would rate PG

The second book of the Bombay family saga concentrates on Dakota, the family playboy until he discovers he is the father of a six year old genius and falls head over heels for a funeral home owner. The cast of characters from the first book returns for this story as well. The story as a whole is a bit far fetched as are the characters. However, that is why I enjoy these books so much...they are so far out there that they are fun to read. The comedy is great...Dakota's narration had me laughing throughout the entire story. Plus, the romance in this story is sweet but not sickeningly so. Just right. I plan on reading more books in this series.
I got this kindle story while it was available for free, but after reading it, I would have paid for it! I won't go into too many plot details since others do it for you, but this book was hilarious! It's such a light and entertaining read. The family is outrageous and I loved how the author completed the ending. I always get curious about my characters' "happily ever afters" and this ending does satisfy that for me. One of my fave parts in the book is where Leonie is talking about the death and burial of her iguana. I love animals, so if this wasn't fiction, I would be sad for her experience, but man, that was funny. If you have a good sense of humor and are looking for a good book to give you a laugh, this is a good choice!
I took a chance on this book because it was free. It was billed as a romance, and i suppose it does have a romance as part of the storyline. But the book didn't come across as a romance to me. Certainly not the kind of romance most of us have read in the past.

The writer has a great sense of humor, comic timing, and imagination. I started laughing on the first page and continued for most of the following 2 chapters.

I read this book in a day, and was hoping that she had others in this series. She does and I'm glad. I don't want to share half the story as many reviewers do, but this was a book I will probably re-read for fun many times. I like the characters, the style of writing, and the plots. No, it's not high drama, but there's no reason it should be.

I recommend getting a sample of this book. It's one of those books that you will either love or hate. I happen to love it, but we all have different taste.
"Guns will Keep us Together" is a parody of any family that has been in business together for a long time. This family is in the assassin for hire business, which provides much of the humor, but the issues they face could happen to any family business. The difference being that a hostile takeover does not usually involve the morgue.

The story twists and turns and is full of surprises. Perhaps the most fun are the "they didn't really say that?" moments.

There is only one scene I had took issue with and given the high public profile of the real company involved I found my willingness to suspend my disbelief stretched to its limit based on what I know about this company. Ironically, I am familiar with another company with less militaristic security where this event could have happened, although it would not have been as much fun.

Read it on the airplane so when you laugh out loud everyone will look at you. You will laugh out loud. I promise.

What I Loved This was such a fun premise for a book. It was funny, witty, and just amazingly heartwarming. The family, even though they are assassins, are quite close and such a huge part of Dakota's life. There are movie quotes, book quotes, and general pop culture references that play well through out the book too.

What I Liked I really liked all the characters, how they were presented, and the different roles they played in the book. The humor was outstanding and kept me rolling the whole book!

Complaints The plot was a little predictable but it didn't really hinder the story in a big way.

Why I gave it a 3 I really enjoyed reading this book. It is a quick read and the only thing I wish is that I had read the first book before reading this one.

Who I would recommend it too Contemporary Romance readers that like humor. The story is mostly told from the guy's POV which is unique and I really liked it!

I loved "Scuse Me While I Kill This Guy" and "Stand by Your Hitman" (I didn't read the Bombay books in order), but "Guns Will Keep Us Together" was really good, too. I liked the male POV for a change of pace--and Dak's comments are very funny. He had me laughing out loud from Chapter One when he talked about getting a phone call and how it could be someone calling about an inheritance, or a husband of someone he'd slept with saying he'd be over later with a baseball bat.

I loved how Dak changed from a ladies man to a family man when he finds out he has a six-year-old son, and how his attraction to Leonie quickly turns into love. Louis, his son, is adorable. The name "Crummy Funeral Home" cracked me up.

I don't want to give away too much of the plot, but the ending was unexpected and perfect.

Great, great book, especially if you have a quirky sense of humor (like me).
